Association of Women-Specific Health Factors in the Severity of Parkinson's Disease
This first-of-its-kind study of women-specific health reveals how many factors correlate with phenotypes and how estrogen and other hormones impact the course of illness. The scope is primarily menses to menopause, with important findings like “medications feeling less effective during menses … mastectomy, total hysterectomy … gestational diabetes, … perinatal bacterial infection” correlated w/ the moderate/severe PD phenotype.
