APP's on the Global Stage:

AMDAPP in Seoul

The International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Seoul, South Korea, offered an incredible opportunity to learn, connect, and bring fresh ideas back to clinic. Held October 4–8, the Congress paired new research with practical education. For AMDAPP, a highlight was the growing presence and visibility of advanced practice providers (APPs).

International Voices in the Sessions

Our international colleagues brought valuable perspectives and practical expertise to the program. Sarah Bray of Australia presented in Troubleshooting Parkinson’s Disease: Infusion Therapies in the Clinic. Elina Tripoliti of Greece moderated multiple sessions, and Wei Li of Singapore highlighted the importance of caring for the caregiver during a session on palliative care.

Their contributions reflected the breadth of expertise across our international community and offered insights to bring directly into everyday patient care.

APP Research in the Poster Hall

We were excited to see more APP poster presentations this year, including several from AMDAPP members. Their work addressed clinical challenges, opportunities to improve care, and the expanding role of APPs around the world.

Natalie Hellmers, PhD, a nurse practitioner from Weill Cornell Medicine and AMDAPP Executive Council member, presented three posters!

Nick Bryden, AMDAPP’s first member from Scotland, joined Executive Director Kelly Papesh, to present on the global role of nurses and APPs in Parkinson’s disease care.

Clarisse Goas, CNP, AMDAPP Executive Council member from Ohio State University, and Erin Zinn, CNP, AMDAPP Deputy Director, presented a poster highlighting the need for best-practice guidelines to manage skin complications associated with subcutaneous infusion therapy in Parkinson’s disease.

Amanda Hare, DNP, and her Rune Labs colleagues presented several posters exploring gait and balance, the potential for objective measurement, and how these insights could help inform care and improve outcomes.

Bringing AMDAPP’s Heart and Soul to Seoul

Of course, AMDAPP couldn’t leave Seoul without sharing some of its community-focused heart and soul. Our sponsored scavenger hunt brought teams of colleagues together to explore the city, have fun, and get to know one another beyond the conference setting.

The adventure ended with a rooftop reception overlooking the Han River—a memorable setting for new friendships and connections across countries and disciplines.

Carrying the Momentum Forward

We brought the energy and inspiration of our members and community with us to Seoul, and we saw that spirit reflected in their teaching, research, and willingness to connect. We came home proud of their contributions and excited to keep building opportunities for APPs to share their expertise on the global stage.
