October Newsletter
Dear AMDAPP Community,
Greetings from Seoul, where we have just wrapped up an incredible week at the 2026 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders. Clinicians, researchers, and trainees from around the world gathered to share the latest in research, clinical practice, and emerging approaches to diagnosing, treating, and supporting people living with movement disorders. From advances in biomarkers, device-aided therapies, and DBS programming to new models of multidisciplinary care, the energy in Seoul was a powerful reminder of how quickly our field is moving.
The week kicked off with a taste of “From Kings to K-Pop!” a lively scavenger hunt in which the Ganglia Style team came out on top. Beyond the fun, AMDAPP members made their presence felt, with many presenting poster abstracts that highlighted exciting work from their own practices. Our very own Natalie Hellmers, PhD, RN, ACNP-BC of Cornell Medicine presented three posters. AMDAPP leaders, Kelly Papesh, DNP, RN, FNP-C, Erin Zinn, MSN, ANP-BC and Clarisse Goas, APRN-CNP and the International Working Group also shared two posters: one on The Global Role of Nurses and Advanced Practice Providers in Parkinson’s disease Care, and another on The Management of Skin Complications in Parkinson’s disease.
For me, this year felt like a full-circle moment. I remember the first conversations about the “bud” that would become AMDAPP at our first MDS meeting in 2019. Seven years later, here we are, a stronger team and a growing community. Let's wrap up the year on a strong note!
Warmly,
Jenny Nguyen
